Day 4 of "8 Days of Ethan" - “If you had the faith like a mustard seed, you could move mountains.”
Today's call to action focuses on the historic role of church communities in civil rights movements.
Although I'm not a big fan of organized religion, I do Believe, and I acknowledge the power of faith, be it religious, spiritual, or positive thinking in general.
I have several friends who are avid church goers, and there is one in particular who I often turn to when I feel the need for some Divine intervention.
She'll be hearing from me today! :)

Like many, whenever I think of Church and civil rights, I automatically think of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. It's interesting to me that one of my favorite sites just happened to post this picture today. Tomorrow is the 45th anniversary of the assassination of the great leader. Everyone Matters remembered him with this photo and quote. In Littlebirdsdad's post today, he reminds us: "What our movement needs is the kind of Faith that is Action – taking the next step, without fear or anxiety over the outcome." That was the kind of faith I needed to contact local news stations on Day 1 of this journey. It will no doubt be called upon more and more as we continue to fight for Justice for Ethan. |
