I have been inspired and awakened by the campaign designed by Little Bird’s Dad to raise awareness and generate activity for #JusticeForEthan. The last day of “8 Days for Ethan” left us with a challenge – create our own 8 Days for Ethan to continue the work which has only just begun. I have decided to take up that challenge.
I was a faithful follower, using Little Bird’s Dad’s outline to stir the activist in me. I was surprised, to say the least, at what happened. There were great successes, for example my interview on local television about how Ethan’s death is frightening for all parents. There were also small, more personal triumphs like when an unexpected “Like” happened on one of my Facebook posts. Unfortunately, there were also low points, like stumbling across a particularly hateful comment online, or the occasional “oh no, not that again” look from friends and family.
All in all, it was an extremely gratifying experience, and one I hope I can continue for others, at least in some small way. I apologize now if I don’t measure up to the fantabulous standard that has been set. Little Bird’s Dad made it so easy. I only hope I can come close to doing his work justice.
I’ve already got an outline prepared and I’m eager to start working on the details. Please stay tuned for even MORE ways to help spread the word and find #JusticeForEthan!
You’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish!!! I know I was.
